Sam Amidon meets Het Kamerorkest Brugge
Murder ballads & songs of redemption
Cactus Muziekcentrum and Het Kamerorkest Brugge
B Major! also stands for ‘cross-fertilization’, and that is what the Cactus Muziekcentrum and Het Kamerorkest Brugge have understood perfectly well. In the context of the Bruges music biennial, they will bring together the American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sam Amidon and Het Kamerorkest Brugge on stage. Sam Amidon is a prominent member of the Bedroom Community label and collective. His songs bear the traces of Irish and Appalachian traditional music, with a pre-folk twist that Amidon ranks among the best songsmiths such as Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. For B Major!, Amidon and Het Kamerorkest Brugge have put together a programme under the heading 'Murder Ballads and Songs of Redemption'. This will be a total programme in which Amidon and 16 strings conducted by concertmaster Jolente De Maeyer provide a surprising orchestral performance of his oeuvre.
