Sound/Image

imaginative concert track

The Concertgebouw Brugge lsends forth sounds and images along a richly imaginative concert itinerary. Image and music dart among each other like foals: energetic, pure, simple, unbounded. In a synthetic play with image and music, melodic lines and vibrato, double bass player Peter Jacquemyn and performance artist Sigrid Tanghe explore the boundaries of the improvisation. Composer Annelies Van Parys in turn draws inspiration from Luc Tuymans' 'Angel' as well as from the French poet Gérard de Nerval. Following in the vein of Toshio Hosokawa and Vykintas Baltakas, she has written a new work for the Angel Room.  Cellist Arne Deforce and textual artist/calligrapher Brody Neuenschwhander - both Bruges natives - conclude with an intriguing and organic performance. Fireworks guaranteed!
